AMBA-BRAZIL: Our Motion of Support to Ambazonia Was Founded On United Nations' Archives

In just less than 24 hours after the President of the Interim Government of Ambazonia visited Camara Municipal de Barueri, a community located on the south eastern side of Brazil, in which they officially recognised the state of Ambazonia, the CameroUn Ambassador in Brazil wrote to the President of the council president, accusing them for hosting terrorists.

In a response letter, Mr. FABIO LUIZ DA SILVA RHORMENS, the president of the council, educated the CameroUn Ambassador on the history and genuineness of the fight of Ambazonians for Self Determination.

The motivation for elaborating the motion of support was based on extensive research into the archives of the United Nations and also into the proper history of decolonization of African countries (Other sources of information included official archives of the Government of Cameroons), reporting on the political process that culminates in this sad and ongoing conflict, among which:... - The President!

To

His Excellency Mr. Martin Mbeng,

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon in Brazil.

In response to the letter number 491/L/ACBR delivered to the Municipal council on the 4th of December 2019 and addressed to the president of the institution, sets out the following considerations:

The City Hall of Barueri by means of the unanimously approved motion granted its support to the aspirations of self-determination to the people of a region known as Southern Cameroons or Ambazonia, but it registers that:

In the Brazilian legal system and also in the bylaws of the Barueri Municipal council, the term Motion means to propose, study a propose to solve a question.

Legislative motion has no binding character, nevertheless expresses the political will of the parliamentarians, representing the citizens of the municipality.

The motivation for elaborating the motion of support was based on extensive research into the archives of the United Nations and also into the proper history of decolonization of African countries (Other sources of information included official archives of the Government of Cameroons), reporting on the political process that culminates in this sad and ongoing conflict, among which:

Compliance with resolution 1608 of the United Nations, with particular emphasis on article V: "that invites the established government of Southern Cameroons and the Republic of Cameroon to urgently start discussions aiming to finalize preparations before October 1961 upon which the resolution will be implemented.

The resolution cites two entities, these two subjects were understood as two equal parts. Unfortunately, there was no agreement between the two parties on the outcome of the actual implementation of the results from the 1961 referendum. - The President of the Municipal

The legal existence of a nation called Ambazonia, constituted since 1948 as "Southern Cameroons", including a government elected since 1958 and its own bicameral parliament (two legislative bodies), being therefore public and would note that its legal existence precedes the year 1961.

It is pitiful to see violent incidents that have happened since the escalation of the crisis in 2016 with victims on both sides of the conflict.

We are not able to maintain control over the media spread or the political use of motion of support by one side or the other.

In our country only the president of the republic, advised by the minister of External Relations has the legal competency to recognize nations and territories which corroborate with the consideration item "a" and "b" above.

Regarding the Ambazonia flag displayed at the welcome session, we saw no glimpse of injury, nor any legal non-compliance or any alien aggression. Since it is official for the parliament to give voice to diverse organizations of the most varied spectrum of the society, be it from inside the country or outside the country that advocates to causes of legitimate nature.

The parliament should value the debate, which has been done by the municipal legislature of Barueri even though this precept antagonizes divergent interests inside or outside parliamentary representation.

The friendship between Brazil and Cameroon is appreciated and valued by this municipal council in a large dimension, however, despite respecting opinions of the representatives of Cameroons, the people who were at the municipal council to receive the motion of support, did not introduce themselves and were not seen as a terrorist group.

Lastly, it is noted that the City council of Barueri supports a peaceful solution, with the promotion of unrestricted democratic and humanitarian principles and notably, with a view to the United Nations letter it is stated in Chapter 1, article 1, that...

All people have the right to self-determination.

By virtue of this precept, countries can be able to freely determine their respective political conditions and follow freely its economic, social, and cultural development.

The presidency is fully prepared to make any additional clarifications needed on the subject. Respectfully, I take this opportunity to express my best wishes and consideration.

Signed (The President of the City Council of Barueri, Brazil)
