AFTER KUMBA DISTRICT HOSPITAL: St. Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital Shisong Next Target?

Our platform has gathered from the hospital administration of St. Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital/Cardiac Center (SECGH) , Shisong that contrary to news in circulation, the hospital has not been touched by fire, but they however, call on the general public to pray for the hospital and entire staff. This distress call was made on their official Facebook page, in immediate response to the rising threats.

Friends, we are very grateful for your concern. Shisong Hospital, your favourite health service facility, has not been burnt, as you might have heard. However do continue to pray because all is not well with us and our people. We and our entire staff remain committed to "see and serve Christ in all by spending time to care". God bless you. - SECGH, Shisong
Dear people of God, pray for your pearl, St. Elizabeth Catholic General Hospital Cardiac Center. The threats on us are on the rise. Lord you have been our refuge from one generation to the next. - SECGH, Shisong

The information we gathered on the ground was that CameroUn soldiers have been "hunting" wounded Restoration fighters on a regular basis right in the hospital premises.

Soldiers have visited the hospital several times in search of wounded Ambazonia fighters and apparently, Doctors and Nurses have been under pressure as it is believed that the fighters were being treated there. - Prince N.H. Nchanji

The question we at the VOA News desk is asking is, how does the military make a difference between a wounded Restoration fighter and a wounded civilian? A situations like this only presents a tip of the iceberg of the human right abuses committed by the military in Southern Cameroons. More so, are hospital staff no longer bound to treat humans, irrespective of their race or social status?

From every indications, the SECGH, Shisong, is at the pre-burning phase, and if such distress call by the hospital administration and well wishers is not made to the national and international powers that be, this lone pearl may subsequently suffer the same damage as the Kumba District Hospital.

Before the burning of the Kumba District Hospital, the administration and entire staff had long complained of the same threats from the military. They had earlier complained that they are either force at gun point to treat wounded military, to locate or give them information about wounded Restoration fighters.

After the burning incidence, our platform touched many at ground zero, and most of them point fingers to the military pointing out that they believe the structure is serving wounded Restoration fighters.

Our prayer is that this message gets to the powers that be before something tragic happens to the lone Cardiac center in Southern Cameroons. In a similar message, Prince Nfor Nchanji has warned the soldiers of their intentions, and called on the US Embassy and others not to only wait to condemn the act later, in case it ever happened.

After the burning of the Kumba District Hospital, I see that these Soldiers are playing with fire. In as much as Doctors have the right to treat someone no matter the color nor personality, invading a hospital with guns and firing of shots in a cardiac centre is unacceptable. - Prince N.H. Nchanji
I am sending an open message to the US Embassy and other Embassies not to wait and condemn acts later. - Prince N.H. Nchanji added
