Corruption | Atangana Kouna Reimburses 1.7 Billion FCFA, Stolen From La Republique du Cameroun, Whi

It has not been long that the former Minister of Water and Mines, Atangana Kouna Basile, caught in Nigeria trying to escape from the Cameroon government, after having embezzled billions of francs CFA from the government's coffers.
Following his deportation, he has since been held in detention for charges of embezzlement of state funds equivalent to 1.7 Billion.
According to a letter dated April 11, 2018, by Kouna's lawyer, YOSSA KAMGA, and addressed to the Procureur General of the Special Criminal Court in Yaounde, Atangana Kouna Basile, on April 9, 2018, refunded the sum of money he was being accused of embezzling, and this amounts to around One Point Seven Billion francs (1.7 Billion) - exact amount paid found in the letter attached.
