TOTALLY UNTRUE

It is not uncommon to hear some persons posing as Camerounese intellectuals asserting that, on the ground of sovereignty, Cameroun can ignore the international community and get away with it. This, to say the least, is unfortunate, curious and based on faulty premises. Someone could be bold enough to call it ignorance. But how can it be otherwise? An intellectual is a person with developed intellect, who views a situation in its global aspects and presents it as it is – in truth. It is common knowledge that the principle of sovereignty is sanctioned by the constitution. That very constitution does provide that an international instrument duly ratified by Cameroun prevails over (is above) the constitution. It follows ipso facto that sovereignty is not absolute: it is wholly relative. And that is sane and sound judgment, particularly in this era of globalization when the world is referred to as a global village. Imagine that the contrary were the case, and the governing Camerounese elite went along with the erroneous counsel of the Camerounese “intellectuals”! Then, by the principle of reciprocity, other nations would go along with Cameroun and ignore international injunctions and/or recommendations. The dreadful consequences would be international anarchy/chaos and we would all be losers. For instance, Nigeria would throw the Green Tree Accord overboard and the Bakassi Crisis would rebound with the consequences we can all contemplate. If, however, the Camerounese “intellectuals” are banking on the fact that Cameroun has so far defied the international community a number of instances with apparent impunity, the most one can say is that the international community moves slowly, counting on persuasion, BUT absolutely surely and consistently. For example, when, like now, Cameroun turns to the very international community for cooperation, (and that is absolutely inevitable for every nation), the latter simply exacts compliance with all previous engagements first. One may dare warn from the foregoing that those perpetrating atrocities in English Cameroon today and those giving the orders so to do, may wish to apply their minds as to how long the ICC has taken to proceed against Burundi. No lawyer am I, nor a legal adviser to anyone. Just the urge to do my spiritual work of mercy as a Christian!
Thank you Pa Ayah. You too much..ooooh.
