Attempt to Suspend Lawyers Strike Action By 8 Lawyers in Meme Fails; President, Meme Lawyers Associa

It was very unfortunate to witness a handful of Common law Lawyers, eight of them out of hundreds, illegally call off the strike action that was unanimously declared by all the Common law lawyers in Southern Cameroons through their respective associations (NOWELA, FAKLA, MELA and MALA).
While many saw this as an act of betrayal from some selfish members who lack legitimacy for such actions, the North West Lawyers Association (NOWELA), immediately rejected the act and tag it a betrayal. The Manyu Lawyers Association (MALA) as well went into a conclave and unanimously came out with a resolution condemning the act and reminding the public that they will remain out of courts until they get what they want.
The President of the Meme Lawyers Association, Bar. EYAMBE Elias has issued a statement distancing himself from the act, which he describes as an illegal activity of his vice. Enjoy the following article from Akoson Pauline Diale;
The President of the Meme Lawyers Association, MELA, Barrister EYAMBE Elias EBAI in an audio address to the members of the association distanced himself from the illegal activity of the Vice President who collected bribe with 7 others to call off the strike. Barrister EYAMBE argued forcefully that the confab that held in Kumba last January consisting four constituent members namely: MELA, FAKLA, MALA and NOWELA endorsed the strike to continue indefinitely and a steering committee was erected to pilot the strike action.
Late last night, Oct 15, this platform talked randomly to at least twelve members of MELA who categorically said they were siding with the 'disassociation statement' from their president and vowed that no strike action will be suspended and that Meme lawyers would remain vigilant to see who will disgrace their 'almighty K-town'.
Meanwhile, the general atmosphere this morning in Kumba is that the boys are ready to pick up stones against any traitor.
My Comment: We thank Meme Lawyers, MELA for joining Manyu Lawyers, MALA to stand with the people. This is an honorable step taken by Barrister EYAMBE to cleanse his name and to stop the resumption of work.
We call on the president of FAKLA, Fako Lawyers Association to also come clean and denounce the actions against the winning struggle. Some will say, 'he is in the lion's den'. But we of this platform reject such lousy statement at this most crucial time of the struggle; especially as this statement was made immediately after his release. But we all saw him FLY from La Republique to Ghana for a conference. This means that he has the opportunity to excuse himself from the hot kitchen FOR THE SAKE OF MORE THAN 200 ALREADY KILLED; failure which, we can only say COMPROMISE has been made. No life, no profession, nothing is better than one life lost especially a life that was sacrificing to protect the general interest THEY STARTED IT.
We have won some battles and lost some. But we must win the war.
