The Strike action which started late last year (2016) in Southern Cameroons against the annexation and francophonisation of this english-speaking nation by the republic of Cameroon, on September 22, 2017 got a very major twist as over 2 million of the population moved to the streets for a peaceful pre-independence protest. Every home in all villages that make up the 13 counties of the Southern Cameroon Nation poured out their contents (children, adults, the old and the sick) on the streets as one people protesting for the colonial master who is illegally occupying their land to release all arrested and withdraw from their land.
This protest coincided with the day the colonial leader, president Paul Biya was making a speech at the United Nation's72nd General Assembly. On the same note and in solidarity to the home protest, over 2,000 Souther Cameroonians in the diaspora from other countries had rally infront of the UN's head office for peaceful demonstrations for the same reason.

This protest has been described by many, including news houses as the mother of all the protest ever held in the history of Southern Cameroon's struggle.
